Artist Bio
Grace Varner is a sculptor from Birmingham, Alabama, whose work explores the consequences born from the deep entanglement of Southern culture with systems of tradition and inherited ideology. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in ceramics from the University of Montevallo. Following graduation, she completed a two-year residency at The Steel Yard in Providence, Rhode Island. She is currently a second-year MFA candidate at the University of South Florida and will graduate May of 2027.
Varner has exhibited in shows at The Carolyn M. Wilson (Tampa, FL), REVERB (Tampa, FL), The Wurks (Providence, RI), Pawtucket Arts Collaborative (Pawtucket, RI), The Dye House (Providence, RI), James Library Center for the Arts (Braintree, MA), The Gallery (Montevallo, AL), Shelby County Arts Council (Colombiana, AL), Poole Gallery, (Montevallo, AL), Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center (Tuscaloosa, AL) and others.
